We are seeking a skilled and innovative Backend Engineer to join our client’s growing fintech startup.
The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining secure, scalable, and high-performing backend systems that power our digital financial products and services.
Key Responsibilities
Design, develop, test, and maintain backend applications and APIs
Build scalable and secure server-side architecture
Integrate third-party services, payment gateways, and financial systems
Optimize application performance, reliability, and security
Develop and manage databases and data storage solutions
Collaborate with frontend engineers, product teams, and stakeholders to deliver solutions
Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code
Troubleshoot, debug, and improve existing systems
Implement security best practices and compliance requirements
Participate in code reviews and system design discussions
Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field
3–5 years’ experience in backend development (startup or fintech experience preferred)
Strong proficiency in one or more backend languages such as Node.js, Python, Java, Go, or PHP
Experience designing and consuming RESTful APIs
Strong knowledge of SQL and/or NoSQL databases
Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud)
Familiarity with Git and CI/CD pipelines
Understanding of security, scalability, and system performance
Preferred Skills:
Experience in fintech, payments, or financial systems
Knowledge of microservices architecture
Experience with Docker and containerized environments
Familiarity with DevOps practices
Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
Salary
N250,000 – N500,000 monthly.
