 Job Title: Senior Backend Engineer

Location: Lagos

About the Role

• As an engineer at Paystack, you will be at the forefront of our engineering team, driving the development and delivery of high-impact projects.
• You will collaborate closely with other engineers, product managers, and stakeholders to build scalable, secure, and reliable payment solutions.
• Your contribution will be crucial in shaping the technical direction of the company and mentoring other engineers to achieve their full potential.

We’ll trust you to

• Develop, deploy & maintain complex software systems and services.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define, design, and deliver new features and enhancements.
• Ensure the technical feasibility of UI/UX designs and optimize applications for maximum speed and scalability.
• Conduct code reviews and ensure adherence to best practices and coding standards.
• Identify and address performance bottlenecks, security vulnerabilities, and other technical issues.
• Stay up-to-date with emerging technologies and industry trends to drive innovation within the team.
• Participate in the hiring process to attract and retain top engineering talent.

You’ll thrive in this role if you

• 4+ years of experience in software development, with a proven track record of contributing to successful projects.
• Expertise in one or more programming languages such as JavaScript,
• Typescript, Python, or Go. We have a preference for Typescript. However, proficiency in any C-style language is a valid consideration.
• Strong understanding of web technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Typescript) and frameworks (React, Angular, Vue.js).
• Experience with AWS and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Solid understanding of software architecture, design patterns, and data structures.
• Proven experience with RESTful APIs, microservices architecture, and distributed systems.
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.
