We are recruiting to fill the position below:
Job Title: Senior Full Stack Engineer
Location: Lagos
Employment Type: Full-time
Role Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Full Stack Engineer to design, develop, and scale mission-critical fintech products that support treasury operations, payment processing, financial automation, and enterprise transaction management.
The ideal candidate will possess strong expertise across frontend, backend, database engineering, cloud infrastructure, and modern engineering practices.
They will play a key role in building secure, highly available, and compliant financial systems while mentoring engineers and driving engineering excellence across the organization.
Key Responsibilities
Frontend Engineering: React & Next.js Fintech dashboards require heavy data visualization, real-time tracking, and absolute interface reliability.
State Management & Data Fetching: Mastery of tools like TanStack Query (React Query) or Redux Toolkit for handling asynchronous financial data, caching, and serverstate synchronization.
Server-Side Rendering (SSR): Leveraging Next.js for performance optimization, SEO (where public-facing), and secure routing architectures.
Component Design & Security: Building reusable design systems using Tailwind CSS, implementing strict form validations (e.g., Zod, Formik) for transaction inputs, and preventing XSS vulnerabilities.
Backend: Java Spring & Microservices Core banking, payment switching, and ledger systems demand robust, strongly typed enterprise backends.
Spring Boot & Spring Cloud: Building modular RESTful APIs and event-driven microservices.
Security & Compliance: Deep familiarity with Spring Security, OAuth2, JWT, and implementation of role-based access control (RBAC). In fintech, auditing logs and tracking request lifecycles are non-negotiable.
Concurrency & Transactions: Understanding ACID properties, distributed transactions (Saga pattern or two-phase commits), and handling race conditions in concurrent fund transfers.
Database: PostgreSQL Financial data requires strict consistency, complex relational modeling, and performance tuning.
Advanced SQL: Writing optimized queries, window functions, and Common Table Expressions (CTEs) for financial reporting and ledger reconciliation.
Data Integrity & Constraints: Utilizing foreign keys, check constraints, and custom Postgres types (like Enums for transaction statuses).
Indexing & Partitioning: Managing large-scale transaction logs through strategic index planning and table partitioning by date ranges.
Infrastructure & DevOps: Terraform & Kubernetes Fintech applications handle sensitive corporate funds and must maintain strict uptime and disaster recovery standards.
Containerization (Docker): Writing multi-stage, secure, and minimal Dockerfiles for Java and Node.js applications.
Orchestration (Kubernetes): Managing deployments, ingress controllers, horizontal pod autoscaling, and secrets management.
Infrastructure as Code (Terraform): Provisioning cloud infrastructure (AWS/GCP/Azure) reproducibly and securely, ensuring network isolation (VPCs, private subnets for databases).
AI-Assisted Development & Engineering Workflow:
Accelerating delivery while maintaining code health.
Prompt Engineering for Code: Using AI tools (like GitHub Copilot or Claude) effectively to write unit tests, boilerplate DTOs, and documentation.
Critical Code Review: Acting as the final editor for AI-generated code—checking specifically for edge cases, performance bottlenecks, and subtle security vulnerabilities (like SQL injection or insecure direct object references).
Key Fintech Competencies to Highlight:
Beyond the code, modern fintech engineering requires an understanding of:
Idempotency: Ensuring payment APIs can be retried safely without duplicating transactions.
API Security & Integration: Integrating with third-party banking rails, SWIFT standards, or KYC/AML verification vendors.
Observability: Centralized logging, metrics, and tracing using tools like Prometheus, Grafana, and ELK stack to trace failing financial transactions instantly.
Work Experience & Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree with 5–7 years of software engineering experience.
Strong expertise in React.js and Next.js.
Proficiency in PostgreSQL, Redis, microservices, and distributed systems.
Strong hands-on experience with Java Spring Boot, Spring Security, and microservice architecture.
Experience working with Redis, messaging systems, and distributed architectures.
Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform, and cloud-native infrastructure.
Proficiency in Artificial Intelligence Automation and AI-assisted engineering workflows.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Ability to translate complex financial business requirements into scalable technical solutions.
Application Closing Date
