 Job Title: Software Development Engineer

Location: Port Harcourt, Rivers

Main Functions

• Manage software/solution development projects from preparatory stage to implementation stage and ensure laid down software development best practices are strictly adhered to by developers.
• Develop applications (analysis, conception, development and integration); support and assist in the use of applications.

Tasks and Responsibilities

• Manage software/solution development projects from preparatory stage to implementation stage and ensure laid down software development best practices are strictly adhered to by developers.
• Develop applications (analysis, conception, development and integration); support and assist in the use of applications.
• Ensure the documentation of software projects, processes, technical procedures and user manuals while updating the IST Knowledge Base.
• Apply standard best practices and methodology in the maintenance and support of HQ applications as well as off-the-shelf applications deployed in the affiliate.
• Enforce strict compliance of Application Support Lifecycle for all applications installed in the affiliate.
• Participate in reviews of application performance, provides advice, and assists specialists or service providers to plan details of amendments and upgrades to systems.
• Follow-up the maintenance of existing applications for the client entities; provide training, acceptance, and post implementation support through technical assistance to the users and, if necessary, affiliates.
• Liaise with the relevant IST teams to ensure proper and correct resolutions of errors and problems.
• Ensure minimal downtime of applications and software.
• Carry out any other duties/projects that may be relevant to the efficient performance of the function.
• Familiarize self with Company’s emergency procedures and report to the Manager any incident, unsafe act or operation.
• Carry out assigned duties safely according to COMPANY’S HSE procedures in such a manner to minimize / eliminate unsafe exposure to self or fellow workers.
• Proper development and support of software applications to ensure smooth running of E&P operations in all Company’s locations.
• Responsible for actions and activities that would ensure minimum downtime in storing, retrieving and dissemination of data and/or information needed for management decision making

Job Requirements

• University degree in any of the following: Computer Science, IS Engineering, Information and Knowledge Management, Software Engineering, Electrical / Electronic Engineering.
• Minimum of 15 years’ experience in analysis, design, and management of IS in large-scale enterprise computing with particular reference to E&P operations;
• Good knowledge of data and library management, Windows OS (for workstation and Server), DBMS, and software development methods will be an added advantage.
• Incumbent must be able to work under pressure, be a team builder and be highly motivated in order to motivate others.
